How to read this

Standing is an editorial tier, not a metric: A = a flagship venue in its own field (VR, HCI, or a psychology subfield); B = a strong specialist journal; C = a narrower, newer or mega-journal outlet. Treat it as a starting opinion, and remember that the same paper reads differently to a psychology, criminology or computer-science committee.

JIF is the Clarivate Journal Impact Factor from the June 2026 release (the 2025 JIF), checked on publisher pages wherever they could be read. A † marks a figure that could not be confirmed on the publisher's own page; hover it to see where it comes from. A dash means no value could be confirmed. Check JCR before quoting a figure in an application.

Articles/yr is the 2025 count where available; values marked ~ are approximate and may include editorials and corrections. Issues/yr follows the publisher's stated frequency; continuous-publication journals are marked "cont."

VR fit: ●●● VR or extended reality is the journal's core subject or has its own section; ●●○ the journal publishes VR studies regularly; ●○○ it takes VR studies when the research question fits its main field.

Conferences count in VR. In VR and HCI, full papers at IEEE VR, ISMAR, ACM CHI and ACM VRST are primary publications, and the IEEE VR and ISMAR journal-track papers appear in IEEE TVCG. Psychology and criminology committees usually weigh journal articles more.

For criminology venues beyond VR, see the Criminology Journal Atlas.
