42 journals for research on generative immersion, meaning situations that AI generates and adapts while people take part in them: psychology theory and methods journals, VR and HCI venues, and communication, AI, learning, criminology and broad outlets. The Takes column shows which kinds of paper each journal accepts. Click a column to sort; use the chips and the menu to narrow the list.

Takes shows the kinds of paper a journal accepts: P position, perspective or theory papers; R reviews and meta-analyses; F methods papers, tools, tutorials and frameworks; E empirical studies. Letters follow the article types in each journal's author guidelines where they could be read. Some routes are by invitation: Crime and Justice commissions its essays, Philosophical Transactions B works through guest-edited theme issues, and Nature Reviews Psychology commissions most of its pieces (a presubmission enquiry is the way in). Check the guidelines before submitting.
Standing is an editorial tier, not a metric: A = a flagship venue in its own field (psychology, VR, HCI, communication, education, criminology or AI); B = a strong specialist journal; C = a narrower, newer or mega-journal outlet. Treat it as a starting opinion, and remember that the same paper reads differently to a psychology, criminology or computer-science committee.
JIF is the Clarivate Journal Impact Factor from the June 2026 release (the 2025 JIF), checked on publisher pages wherever they could be read. A † marks a figure that could not be confirmed on the publisher's own page; hover it to see where it comes from. A dash means the journal has no impact factor or none could be confirmed. Quartiles come from the category ranks publishers report. Check JCR before quoting a figure in an application.
Articles/yr counts 2025 articles and reviews indexed in OpenAlex; these are marked ~ because online-first dates and commentary can shift the count. Unmarked numbers are the publisher's own 2025 count. Perspectives on Psychological Science posts most papers online a year before their issue, so its count is the papers in its 2025 issues. Issues/yr is the 2025 issue count or the publisher's stated frequency; continuous-publication journals are marked "cont."
Topic fit: ●●● immersive technology or artificial humans are the journal's core subject; ●●○ the journal regularly publishes VR, simulation or human–AI studies; ●○○ it takes such work when the question fits its main field. The scope notes name earlier landmark papers where they show a journal is open to the topic.
Conferences count in HCI and VR. Full papers at ACM CHI, DIS and UIST and at IEEE VR and ISMAR are primary publications, and the IEEE VR and ISMAR journal-track papers appear in IEEE TVCG. Psychology and criminology committees usually weigh journal articles more.
